ABOUT

Marina De Salis (b. 1989, Moscow) is a Russian-Kazakh artist whose work is tinted with influences from her multicultural past, and inspired by encounters with the natural world, symbols in spirituality, Eurasian folklore, shifting realities and immersive dreams. She primarily paints on silk, chosen for its lightness and symbolic ties to her Kazakh heritage along the Silk Road. Her evolving body of work consists of intricate and multilayered shadowbox paintings, created from individual silk pieces.

She graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London, and studied Graphic Design at Shillington Manchester. She lives and works from her studio in Portland, Oregon.
